Our Team

Fourteen people currently make up the Éducaloi team.

NATHALIE ROY, Executive Director
Nathalie was admitted to the Bar in 1991. After finishing her studies in law, she alternately held positions as a research assistant, journalist, and professor. She then worked as a legal advisor in a community organization. From June 1997 to June 2000, she was Assistant to the Office of the Bâtonnier du Québec, where she became well-acquainted with the legal community. As the Executive Director of Éducaloi, Nathalie Roy is responsible for the general administration of the organization, as well as development and public relations. Nathalie Roy is a founding member of Éducaloi.
GENEVIÈVE FORTIN, Assistant Executive Director
Geneviève Fortin was admitted to the Bar in 1994. After completing her studies in law, she returned to the classroom to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Communications in 1998. A founding member of Éducaloi, Geneviève Fortin was a Project Coordinator and Head of Communications for four years. During this period, she participated in the development and launch of Éducaloi’s website and managed major projects, such as "Jeune pour jeunes". Geneviève Fortin is currently the Assistant Executive Director of the organization. She supervises the management of all projects, and she actively seeks to develop new partnerships and areas of expertise for Éducaloi.
DOMINIQUE GARANT, Director of Corporate Affairs
Dominique Garant was admitted to the Bar in 1997. After practising civil litigation and commercial law in a private firm and a large company, she joined the Éducaloi team in January 2001. Since then, she has obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law and New Information Technologies. Having been a Project Coordinator and Website Director, Dominique Garant is now Director of Corporate Affairs of Éducaloi. She manages a team responsible for communications, the website, services to the Anglophone community, and information technology. She is also responsible for various activities related to the daily management of the organization.
GENEVIÈVE BENOIT, Project Coordinator
Geneviève Benoit was admitted to the Bar in January 2005. She joined Éducaloi in September 2001. While pursuing her studies, Geneviève Benoit worked with the organization alternately as a Université de Montréal stagiaire, freelancer, and assistant web editor. After completing her articling at the Service de recherche et législation du Barreau du Québec, she returned to Éducaloi as an Executive Assistant. Geneviève Benoit currently occupies the position of Project Coordinator.
CATHERINE BERGERON, Project Coordinator
Catherine Bergeron was admitted to the Bar in 1995. After finishing her studies in law, she worked for a consulting firm as a lawyer and a case manager in the field of health and safety in the workplace. In 1997, she started working for a law firm, where, in addition to her practice in health and safety in the workplace and in labour law, she developed and presented various training sessions, conferences, and publications in these areas. Member of the Éducaloi team since November 2006, Catherine Bergeron occupies the position of Project Coordinator.
FRANÇOIS BRODEUR, Web Editor
François Brodeur was admitted to the Bar in 1988. After practicing in the fields of civil law, commercial law and professional liability for a couple of years, François left the legal profession to join the world of publishing, especially legal publishing. He occupied the positions of journalist, editor-in-chief, author and finally, editor. A member of the Éducaloi team since March 2008, he is responsible for developing and maintaining the Éducaloi website along with his colleague, Myriam Farag.
MARYSE CHOUINARD, Content Manager
Maryse Chouinard was admitted to the Bar in 2001. Having obtained degrees in both civil law and common law, she has practiced at a law firm specializing in professional liability and insurance law. After gaining experience in written and television journalism, she joined the team at Éducaloi in March, 2004. As content manager, Maryse Chouinard is in charge of the conception and production of legal information destined to the general public. She also acts as a consultant for the simplification of legal communications.
HUBERT DAVID, Head of Information Technology
Hubert David obtained his law degree in 1996. Following his studies, he worked in the information technology and telecommunications field for more than six years. During that time, he acquired significant project management experience, with a focus on the technical side of such work. He returned to the legal world in 2005, as a Project and Activity Coordinator for the Young Bar Association of Montreal. Hubert David joined the Éducaloi team in June 2005. He is responsible for information technology and logistics. He provides support to the entire team in these areas.
MYRIAM FARAG, Web Editor
Myriam Farag was admitted to the Bar in 2002. She holds degrees in both civil law and common law from McGill University. Prior to joining the Éducaloi team in February 2008, she practiced mainly in family law for the last 6 years. Myriam Farag is also a member of the Pro Bono Legal Services committee of the Young Bar Association of Montreal (YBAM) and of the editorial team of the Extrajudiciaire, a magazine published by the YBAM and distributed to over 5,000 members of the legal community. Along with her colleague, François Brodeur, she is responsible for developing and maintaining the Éducaloi website.
ANNICK GARIÉPY, Project Coordinator
Annick Gariépy was admitted to the Bar in 2001. Member of the Éducaloi team since March 2000, she completed her articling at Éducaloi. Initially, Annick Gariépy was web master of the Éducaloi website; in particular, she coordinated a key reform of the website. Currently completing a master’s degree in education, she is now responsible for developing the organization’s activities in the youth sector.
JULIE KON KAM KING, Content Manager
Julie Kon Kam King was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2004. After completing degrees in Civil and Common Law, and Communications, she worked at a labour and employment law firm, and at an international human rights organization. Prior to joining Éducaloi in July 2008, Julie was a Program Manager at the Ontario Justice Education Network. As content manager, she is in charge of the conception and production of legal information destined to the general public. She also acts as a consultant for the simplification of legal communications.
JEAN-LOUIS LAPLANTE, Head of Communications
Jean-Louis Laplante has been working in the field of communications for several years. He holds a Bachelor in Communications and has worked for a number of government departments and agencies. A member of the Éducaloi team since February 2004, Jean-Louis Laplante heads up the organization's communications and participates in establishing new partnerships and pursuing new opportunities. He also advises and assists the Project Coordinators with regard to their communications needs.
EDITH LAROCHELLE, Content Manager
Edith Larochelle was admitted to the Bar in 2007. During her legal studies, she participated in a number of research projects pertaining to human rights, civil rights, aboriginal and immigration law. She began her practice as a lawyer in the private sector in the fields of banking law and financial services. A member of the Éducaloi team since September 2008, as content manager, Edith Larochelle is in charge of the conception and production of legal information destined to the general public. She also acts as a consultant for the simplification of legal communications.
PHILIPPE MIQUEL, Content Manager
Philippe Miquel was admitted to the Bar in 1994. He began his career in criminal law, working first as a defence lawyer and then as a prosecutor. He also worked as a journalist covering legal matters. He has been a member of the Éducaloi team since January, 2002. As content manager, Philippe Miquel is in charge of the conception and production of legal information destined to the general public. He also acts as a consultant on the simplification of legal communications.
Éducaloi’s work could not be accomplished without the assistance of numerous collaborators. Their help at all stages of project development, including drafting, editing and production, contributes immensely to our mission.
